Summary
Generally speaking, cells invaded by bacteria are called as host cells. Virus’ genetic material is wapped by proteins before they get host cells. And they will take use of the proteins or other materials of host cells to build their own bodies. And then they can transfer their genetic material into the host cells to cause death to cells or the worse can be caused is cancer.
Body
Here I will introduce the research achievement of the host cell for students.
In this field, the host cell protein (hcp) analysis and host cell protein detection are mainly concerned.
There are several research achievements from Medicine School of Pennsylvania University and Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology.
Firstly, we will see the research from Medicine School of Pennsylvania University.
Researchers found that kaposi’s KSHV can cheat the cells to copy their genetic materials. This kind of copy method of KSHV can avoid the detection of the human immune system. This research shows that virus can be copied by themselves with the proteins which is got from their host cells. They also pointed that the people have a new idea for the cells copy methods and it will be very meaningful in this field.
Scientists from John Hopkins issued on the PLoSBiology that the HIV is not like the Retrovirals. HIV takes advantage of the transport system of the host cells, which may give scientists a new method for fighting against virus. How Biology molecules and medicine and virus molecules can be transferred among cells is the focus of scientists.
Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology
Cindy Rechner in the Max Planck Institute found that host glycoprotein Gp96 and the scavenger receptor SREC will react specifically with some of the protein when Neisseria gonorrhoeae invade into cells. Many proteins will be expressed by Neisseria gonorrhoeae to regulate bacterial adhesion and invasion. And they also found that the invasion of Neisseria gonorrhoeae will be stopped by the scavenger receptor, which can specially stop the invasion of PorBIA. So Rechner and other scientists thought that the host glycoprotein Gp96 in the host cell can stop the invasion of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and scavenger receptor can protect the host cell from the bacterial adhesion and invasion.
The last thing I want to make this article be complete is the ways for host cells to discharge pathogen. There are many methods in this field, such as, respiratory, digestive, skin and blood.
